----[Please read http://ercoupers.com/disclaimer.htm before following any advice in this forum.]---- I am taking my G model back to original. That
includes the panel and overlay. Here is a dilemma. When I bought the
plane it had rams horn control wheels installed. I want to install the old
(pretzel) wheels. Since the rams horn install requires cutting the sleeve
and shaft, I went to the cookie jar and purchased a new set of shafts and
sleeves for the old style wheels. The problem is, I can't figure out how
to mount the wheels to the shaft. First the shaft seems to big for the
wheels. Secondly, there does not appear to be any way to fasten the
wheel to the shaft. The service manual does not have any
helpful info. I thought about freezing the shaft and heating the wheel, but
that does not seem right. Maybe a sledge hammer? I would appreciate
help you can give me on this one.
Thanks
