Hi Steve; I would suggest you get service bulletin 41, which covers nose gear rebuilding in detail. The instructions for removal and disassembly of the strut are much more detailed than in the service manual. I have attached page one of SB-41 for your information. The bulletin goes into detail on service limits for almost everything on the nose gear, as well as discussing modifications that should already have been made.
