You can strip it your self if you feel it is necessary and dye check it and of course they will tell you that isn't enough but again they want your bucks. You have to do what you feel good with. I was talking today to a certified shop here that is recommending the mount be stripped, magnetic particle inspection, repaint and corrosion protect inside for 400 dollars. Sounds like a good idea, but is there a less expensive way to approach the mount while still being able to inspect it to the same standard?   Also....how far do you carry this procedure.
