I thought I had read on one of these two lists of a report of there being a soft solder shear point within the small continental pull type starter drive. The purpose of this shear point I understood was for protection in the event of a kick back. I recently removed a failed drive and looked for such a soldered shear point. I found none. Was I having a senior moment, or did I read such a post? I have never had reason to do anything with these drives except for removal and replacement. There is breakdown and parts information for the key start overrun clutches, but nothing in Continental publications for the pull type drives.
