----[Please read http://ercoupers.com/disclaimer.htm before following any advice in this forum.]----Norm; From my experience working on Coupes, all of the Coupes that had the moveable trim tab used the conduit in the fuselage with the Belden type housing on each end. I just checked the Forney parts book, and it shows the same system. I know that the Alon had a two piece arrangement like you mentioned, and most likely the later Forney, with the bucket seats had the same arrangement.
I have heard of owners replacing the conduit arrangement with a single piece Belden wire. and I know that Belden wire can be bought by the foot (including the housing) but I have also heard of owners making up the conduit arrangement too. The conduit uses a 3/16 tubing sleeve swaged on to the flexible housing and a 3/16 tubing nut on the housing to fasten the flexible housing on to a bulkhead fitting. On one side of the bulkhead you have the conduit that runs from about frame G back to just in front of the horizontal stabilizer. On either end of that you have the flexible housing running to the trim control and to the trim tab,
I suspect that it will work either way.
Good Luck
