When I recieved the following posting I was concerned, but did not contact Dawley. Today I talked to Bob at Dawley (1 800 338 5420), to inquire about their status.
Bob tells me that they have not stopped repairing Ercoupe systems, that evidently the comments recieved in January were mistaken.
Bob welcomes Ercoupe systems for repair or replacement....noting that sometimes mufflers are so badly failed they may not be repairable.
I am sure AWI also does good work, but I wanted to alert the list to the evidently mis-understanding that occurred back in January.
"After hearing all the good things about Dawley on this email list, I called them in January asking for a complete exhaust system rebuild. But I was told they didn't work on Ercoupe pipes anymore.
I ended up going with AWI out of Florida. They also did a good job, stainless system, and it fits fine. I think I picked up a few mph in cruise so my 50-yr-old pipes must have been pretty holey. See their ad in trade-a-plane, it's in there every issue."
