Another problem you probably don't want to hear is that there is a hole in your overflow tube inside of your header tank thus venting fuel into the mains before the header tank gets full. Also there might be a blockage of some kind in the line going to or coming from your fuel pump.  I Don't know but some else on the net may know what the fuel pump is supposed to put out if so you can take the line off of the outlet of your fuel pump and measure the flow and pressure at the outlet when you run the starter making sure your mags. are grounded.  Dick & Nancy  [EMAIL PROTECTED] ----- Original Message ----- From: Hartmut Beil To: Ercoupers Tech Talk Sent: Tuesday, November 25, 2003 11:43 AM Subject: Re: [COUPERS-TECH] Fuel feed John. Not having had that particular problem, but having dismantled the fuel pump on my bird a few times, I would recommend checking the screen on the pump. It might be clogged. then the pump itself is maybe old and needs a new diaphragm. In any case, looking at the pump would be my first guess. I have my pump screen checked at least ones a year. Opening the pump cover there gives you also a chance to look for any trapped water or other gunk in the pump itself. If not cleaned out, that gunk may lead to corrosion and there goes your several hundred dollar item....   Good luck. Last week I flew from my home field in Jacksonville Fl. to Hilton Head SC. My intention was to fly direct to Varnville SC but the sight tube on the header tank was below the half way mark and I stopped at Hilton Head to check it out.  I put 11.7 gal. of fuel in the bird which gave me about 6 gal per hour burn. My question is this. If the fuel is pumped from the main wing tanks into the header tank and then gravity fed to the carb. Shouldn't the header tank remain full until the wing tanks are empty?  If so. Why would the fuel pump not keep up with fuel burn...assuming the excess goes back into the wing tanks?
