165 is not bad for Wis. in the winter if you have the 'winter plug' in the hole under the prop. I flew Sat. with the outside temp at 23F and could only get an oil temp of 140 with the winter plug in the Mooney M-10. There is not much more you can do to raise the temp. I would never consider partially blocking the cooling holes to the cyl's. Just change oil more often. Craig 9772M in Minn.
