Roger.
Any reason why you used a copper tube?

Subject: [COUPERS-TECH] Header tank fuel cap venting

----[Please read http://ercoupers.com/disclaimer.htm before following any advice in this forum.]----

I'd mentioned previously that at idle my nose tank fuel cap was venting fuel occasionally for 3 or 4 seconds.  As suggested by others, I disconnected the overflow tube at the tank and both cleaned and blew through the lines and fittings.  We also checked that the tanks were properly vented.  Also, removed the outlet side of the fuel pump to insure the restrictor was in place.  All was ok but it still vented occasionally at idle (and I  suspecting it of venting small quanities in flight).  Finally, we removed the overflow line from the nose tank fitting to the left wing tank fitting completely.  In tracing it, it had been formed into a horizontal "S" , creating a trap prior to entering the wing tank.  Regardless, the line was unobstructed and clean.  It was however of two different sizes in construction, 1/4 inch ID at each fitting, with slightly smaller ID for the remainder of the line.  Although it appeared to have been used in this form for years, we replaced it completely with new 1/4 ID (3/8 OD) copper tubing.  We routed it with no "S" bends and a more direct and constant downward flow from the nose tank to the wing tank.  Tested at length today, both idle and in flight, and so far so good...no venting.  I am curious as to the design and shape of any other original overflow tubes that may have been replaced,  and as to whether mine was Ercoupe factory original or not.   Any thoughts welcomed.   Roger
