Ed,

The only thing I know about #1 is that 71 inches is the correct length for a C85.  Reference #2, I recently asked and was told start with 1 1/2 turns out and adjust from there.  My understanding is turn lean till slightly rough then richen 1/4 to 1/2 turn.  Reference #3, I shut the engine down each time to adjust the mixture, but have seen brave A&P adjust with engine running.  However, I'm no authority on any of this.  Maybe someone else will have a better answer.  Roger

Sorry to have bothered everybody with this.

I obviously misunderstood the purpose of [email protected].

Well...Three questions.

(1) Have recently changed the jet and venturi to convert 75 to         85.
(p7881 #445 and p16176 - 1 3/8 were the part numbers from     Precision Engines who supposedly have the rights to                     Stromberg)    Prop now 71."  No increase in RPM.  ???

(2)  Will not idle below 900-1000 RPM.  How many turns should there be in the mixture knob to get a smooth engine before I begin the adjust the idle?

(3)  Must this adjustment be made while the engine is running?
      Seems suicidal!
