Sorry to have bothered everybody with this.I obviously misunderstood the purpose of [email protected].
OK, so no one jumped in with an answer. I guess you aren't getting your money's worth out of your subscription. So come back with a sharp retort. that'll bring out the experts! for sure! (Who aren't getting paid much to respond).
(1) Have recently changed the jet and venturi to convert 75 to 85.(p7881 #445 and p16176 - 1 3/8 were the part numbers from Precision Engines who supposedly have the rights to Stromberg) Prop now 71." No increase in RPM. ???
What was the pitch of the old prop vs. the new one? No increase in RPM under what conditions? What was your static RPM on a standard day before and what is it after the changes?
(2) Will not idle below 900-1000 RPM. How many turns should there be in the mixture knob to get a smooth engine before I begin the adjust the idle?
Turns in the mixture knob? Don't understand. Set the idle speed to about 675 RPM. Then set the idle mixture for smooth running. Repeat until you have 675 RPM and smooth running. then enrichen the mixture until you have about 650 RPM.
(3) Must this adjustment be made while the engine is running?Seems suicidal!
Doesn't have to be, but it's a lot faster. If you don't feel comfortable, don't do it. The spinning prop mesmerizes some folks and makes them go glassy eyed and walk into it...
