Percy,

Beyond the Coupe, there are several "like types", identical flying
characteristics, etc. in the Aeronca, Piper, and several other brand
aircraft that are either in or out of the original proposal by just a few
pounds. My Aeronca Chief is out by 18 lbs. while the Champ is in by 12
lbs.
They are virtually the same otherwise (other than tandem vs side by side
seating). Because the 1232 lbs. was a number picked without regard to
this
flight characteristic issue ( I understand that it was a metric number
originally converted to lbs., therefore the uneven value), and it did
leave
some obvious choices out that logically should be included with those that
are, EAA and others have pushed hard for the slight weight increase. I
guess we have to sit back and wait though. Roger
