It can't be that hard, because every time I see a collection of Ercoupes I note that the majority seem to have no through-panel fuel valve any more. A counter-example has to be the brake master cylinders These, too, are made of 'unobtanium' but under Lee, Skyport got a nice STC to use a generic homebuilder's master cylinder to replace and improve it. Analogous fuel valves are in the Aircraft Spruce catalog, some of which work remotely via a cable. It seems to me it should be possible to do the same thing for fuel valves as was done for the brakes.
