Evening folks,
I have been looking for the source of a fuel smell in the cockpit for a while now. I pulled the side panels off and looked all over but could not find a leak.
Yesterday I had the gas guy fill the tanks, I usually do that myself, after flying.
This morning when I went to the airport to fly I found the leak. Inside the cockpit on the left side fuel tank there is a round plug or something on top of the fuel tank. There is some kind of gray sealer, looks like that liquid steel stuff, all around it but it is seeping out from under the sealer.
When I was looking for my Ercoupe I flew one that had a fuel gage in that spot. This looks like a blank plug where it might go.
Should I pull that plug out and just re-seal it or does anyone know where I might find the fuel gage that would go there? I didn't see it in the Univair book.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
John B.
