Hi Kevin,
I looked further in my references, and found that Drawing F34450 is entitled "Ass'y Nose Gear" 5.00x5 Wheel-Eng. Install". Sorry for not digging better the first time.
The gear shown is the Forney double-fork gear which replaced the earlier single forks. The double fork itself is F-34371, the wheel is a Goodyear #D232 or Cleveland Model 21-100D, Type 40-17 (both 500x5). A note applicable to the AN4-55A bolt through the cups in your axle states "This bolt is used to adjust Timken bearings, do not over tighten". No torque is listed. I also found an old Univair cross-reference for F34450 to SK-17
FYI, this gear (strut assembly) is longer (with the bigger wheel/tire). If Belleville springs were not fitted when the gear was installed, your coupe will sit "tail low" even with brand new rubber doughnuts (MLG shock absorbers).
Bill Coons has a 337 for installation of spacers to correct this condition. YOUR "correct" tail height is the measurement from level ground to the top of your fins/rudders after placing a level on your leveling and manually raising the tail cone until it reads level, then supporting the tail cone (with something soft) and taking the measurement.
Regards,
William R. Bayne

Is anyone familiar with the W.E. Cummings nose gear P/N F34450? From the part number it appears to be a Forney part number. Is this the standard Forney nose gear?/bigger>/bigger>/fontfamily>
