Jeff,
Welcome to the Ercoupe world...
There is an excellent article in "Sport Aviation" October 2004 issue.
While it applies to CherrryMax rivets, it also expalins the proceedure for
removing the old rivets withoput damaging or enlarging the existing holes,
etcx. You may be able to download the article at www.eaa.org....or find the magazine at the
local airport....
As to hail damage.. generally this is mostly cosmetic and some claim to be
able cure the dents by applying a piece of Dry Ice to shrink the dent out...
Others suggest that the dents may be beneficial to top speed....dents just like
those on the cover of a golf ball..
Get advice and help from an AI, A&E mechanic...Lots of good valid
advice from your local EAA Chapter....
I decided to not metalize my wings for two reasons: One - it ioncreases the
empty weight by about 35 - 40 pounds....over fabric.....; and because my coupe
was sitting outside I decided that fabric was less likely to get damage from
hail....
