The filler neck for my oil tank is on the right side of my ercoupe. It is very difficult to work around the exhaust manifold and the fresh air intake to check and fill the tank. My friend Chips coupe has the filler neck on the left side of his engine. What is the correct position and can it be turned 180 degrees? It would be so much nicer to have it on the left.
No one piped in, huh? As far as I can tell, Ercoupes were intended to have the filler neck on the left. Yours probably had an engine transplant at one time or another, and the tank got switched. IIRC, most planes other than Ercoupes have it on the right. In the words of Continental: "The location and length of the oil fill neck vary to suit the aircraft installation." I don't jnow if it's practical to simply reverse the tank. One issue is the drain plug. I'd think it would make a mess draining onto the carb... ;)
