The small size of the reservoir makes it nearly impossible to pump all the bubbles out before you empty it out and suck more in. Many A&Ps own a brake bleeder, which consists of a pressurized bottle of brake fluid (think of a pesticide sprayer) attached to a fitting which clips on the bleeder valve. You pump fluid UP from the brakes and into the reservoir until all the bubbles are gone. Obviously, you do this on both sides. I had some success in making my own. I took a jar, put approriate fittings in the lid, and pressurized it with a bicycle pump. But the real one works better. Now, when you do this, make sure you take a 1/8"NPT pipe thread hose barb and screw it into the top of a reservoir and put a length of tubing on it leading to a container. Otherwise you'll have brake fluid all over hell and gone. Also, when there are no more bubbles in the overflow tube, you've got all the bubbles out of the brake lines. I've spent hours trying to get the brakes bled from the top down, without success. The bleeder does it in five minutes.
