There are cases where the STC is used as the basis for the field approval. We can supply examples along with the STC, but you should run it by your FSDO before you cut any metal. (Or spend any money).
The C85/O200 crank is a very good second choice. Make sure whoever is building the engine knows what they're doing. It's not just a simple parts swap.
