I really can't figure out who sent this message, but it's right on the money! The D model is the one with the gross weight increase, not the C or CD, regardless of what the logs, paperwork or dataplate may say. I saw an C Ercoupe that is currently listed on Ebay where the owner said it had the 1400 gross weight increase. Horsefeathers! We all need to start kicking these rumors and old wife's tales out of the conversations. I'm telling you guys now that with the new Sport Pilot rules, ALL of the currently certificated airplanes that qualify for Sport will be under the microscope. IA's will no longer pencil whip an annual and paperwork will start becoming very important. No more NAPA FAA/PMA parts! Mods without proper documentation will become a thing of the past, and although you may think your IA will help you out, when you go to sell, the bad stuff will haunt you. Do you have the paperwork for your bubble windshield? What about for the large baggage compartment or dual exhaust? Modern nose fork properly documented? How about those McCauley C150 brakes? Radios and interiors? It would benefit all if we could learn more about these wonderful antique flyers and get them all back to where they're supposed to be.
