Hey Randy: The first 813 Coupes had 7.7 gallon wing tanks because the tanks
were cut out on the corner to allow the landing gear to be bolted to the front
of the main spar. The next (8 gallon tanks) were produced without any internal
gauge. The 7.7 gallon tanks had an internal float mounted on the right
tank.
The 9 gallon tanks had an internal gauge mounted in
the left wing tank. This is why the cut out must be made in the side of the
fuselage, so the pilot can see the gauge.
I think that any of the tanks could be mounted on
any serial number, as long as you get FAA approval, because they all mount the
same. The aluminum tanks are the better tanks, due to the lighter weight and the
built in gauge on the left tank. However, you can use an external float (gauge)
that mounts in the filler hole, and takes the place of the cap. I believe
Skyport has these for sale.
Are you properly confused now? Good Luck.
