Hi
Back out at the hanger again today. Took a
closer look at the wing tank while it was off. OUCH! A rivet fell
out of the fuel outlet fitting and their seems to be some corrosion in the
tank.
The aircraft is serial number 3332 so the tank should be aluminium. If
anyone knows the weight of these tanks I would appreciate them forwarding it to
me so that I can identify it as ternplate or aluminium (I believe that there is
a 7lbs difference between the two types). The right side tank does not
match the left tank so I cannot be sure what type of tank it is (someone must
have replaced a tank in the past).
Does anyone know what the going price is for a good
used tank (if they are even available). I am thinking that I am likely to
be drilling out many rivets in the near future so that this tank can be
repaired.
