Yes Ercoupes are not as lightweight as they used to
be.
I guess that most Ercoupes will bring more than
900lbs on the scale - empty.
Even with a max gross of 1400lbs one is over gross
really quick with a passenger on board and full tanks. Not to talk about
baggage.
One should be aware that any Ercoupe is best flown
as a single seater.
I also think that the 20-40 pounds difference
between rag- and metal wings will not do the cut here.
As a general rule: Any Ercoupe is fine flown alone.
If you must fly with someone else - do your weight and balance calculations. In
my case, I am at 1260 pounds with full tanks when flying alone. My
Ercoupe is pretty much stock, except for a T&B and the transponder/radio
installation.

It was mostly stock, but with dual landing lights, strobe, clevelands, and the usful load was only 375#. With 24 gals of fuel it is really a single place airplane unless you and friend are really light weights.----- Original Message -----From: Bill McNeeleySent: Tuesday, April 05, 2005 11:47 PMSubject: [COUPERS-TECH] Wing Weights----[Please read http://ercoupers.com/disclaimer.htm before following any advice in this forum.]----My partner and are looking to buy an SLA qualified Ercoupe. Useful load is important consideration. Can anyone tell me the difference in weight between fabric and metal Ercoupe wings.============================================================================== To leave this forum go to: http://ercoupers.com/lists.htm Search the archives on http://escribe.com/aviation/coupers-tech/============================================================================== To leave this forum go to: http://ercoupers.com/lists.htm Search the archives on http://escribe.com/aviation/coupers-tech/
