The nose gear restriction cable is only for the double nose fork. This is
needed because the double fork is 2 inches longer, and without the cable the
nose wheel is liokely to scrub on landings....
With the cable on the single fork, the nose wheel does not extend as it
should, and is the fairing is installed, it no longer closes against the nose
strut, making it act like a front rudder, and also increasing drag.
Someone may have installed the cable because the coupe was modified to a D
model with 9 deg up elevator travel... This limited elevator travel restricts
getting the nose up on landing, and they wanted to protect the nose gear......
instead of approaching at a higher airspeed.
