The only way this can happen is if the fuel is leaking back through the 
fuel pump.  This implies that both check valves are leaking,  There is a 
possibility that the overflow could somehow be feeding from the bottom of 
the tank instead of the top, but if this were the case I don't think the 
tank would fill during flight.  Try turning the valve off that feeds fiuel

from the wing tanks to the fuel pump.  If the flow stops, you know where 
it's coming from.
