I think you are more to the direction of the
problem than fuel transitioning through the fuel lines the short distance from
the fuse tank to the bowl getting hot enough to boil. It just isn't there long
enough to do that. Yes vapor lock can be an issue in fuel injected engines but
its starting havter they have been hot and have sat on the ramp a while and the
lines heat soaked.
When I got my ercoupe home from picking it up, it
would not start on the ramp. Turned out we had issues with the mags as well as
the fuel system. On taking the carb apart it looked like the carb may have been
used by orville and wilbur it had so much dirt in it. After the new mags the
engine started but it would falter even after warming up. That's when my
mechanic opened the carb and found the mess. Well, then it ran fine. But soon we
got to the annual and opened up the fuel pump. It was a corroded mess on the
inside. Lots of powder flecking off. Easily enough to block carb jets. No I
didn't clean the thing, I replaced it. The motor now runs as you would expect,
perfectly. No hesitation on start up, no issues with throttle application. And
no worries about it in the left seat.
