My mechanic said that for safety it was best if I shut off the fuel to the engine at on the panel and let it run until it quit. Then you're safe against a mag accidentally left hot, and there will be no fuel left in the carb that could present a danger. If you just shut off the mags, you may see fuel condensing in the carb and then dripping.

What procedure do you all follow to turn off the Ercoupe (without mixture
control)?

On Cessnas, I learned to turn the plane off with the mixtuure control.

The previous owner of my 415C told me to:
1. Shut off fuel valve under control panel.
2. Turn off master switch
3. Turn off engine with magneto switch

Is this the right way??
