I removed my big venturi years ago when I also removed my DG (It
didn't work, and I always looked at my compass anyway). I also
stripped the slightly peeling paint and polished the airplane. The
result was an 8 mph increase in cruise speed. I'm pretty sure the
majority of the increase was from removing the big venturi.

Like dragging an anchor! Oy! I surely didn't notice that kind of
slowdown when I had my 2" replaced with the 9".
Any aeronautical engineers out there that would like to weigh in?
