While there may be a weight savings I believe you will find a definite
performance loss.  We had four Ercoupes flying regularly together in
formation and the one with the wooden prop could never keep up with the
rest on climb out.

According to both my A&P/IA (WWII Navel Aviator and retired Lockheed
flight test engineer) and a second retired Navel Aviator and retired
Delta Captain, the wooden prop, while adhering to the same specs as a
metal prop, cannot be kept within the same manufacturing tolerances,
etc.  As a result they do not perform as well as a similar metal prop.
So they said - and we saw it in actual practice.
