Charlie,
The header tank removal process is outlined in the Ercoupe Service
Memo #33.  The removal of the tank and, I am sure reinstallation, is
not an easy task,  however,  keep telling yourself someone else has
done it and I am as good as a mechanic as they are and it will soon be
out.  The installation of mine hasn't been started yet.  If your tank is
riveted,  drill out the back side and take a look to see what you have.
I can refer you to some articles on repairs that I am currently involved in.
If it looks too tough or is a welded tank check with John Wright Jr.   I
strongly disagree with any "sloshing" attempt to repair - the removal
and installation is too labor intensive to short cut on tank repair.
John
