No, he didn't, but he was a flexible and observant fellow. While under there, upsidedown, he noticed a small crack near the top of the control column - possibly from the ailerons beating in the wind while tied down outdoors - and removed it for welding. I now always lock my control wheels forward with a through -tube pin when parked outside , and I attach a strong bungee between both control wheels for good measure.
