I live on a small private dirt strip in rural central Texas.

40 x 50 x 14 wall hangar with 45 x12 hydraulic door cost me $10,000 (me and buddies provided labor)

Taxes are $465 year on house and hangar.

Guess I can't complain.

Bill

I keep my airplanes on a farm in a steel open hangar protected from the wind and weather by a forest of trees.  The cost is ZERO.  Been that way for years.  I like that arrangement very much.  We help each other.

I'd LOVE to find a hangar condo in SoCal within commuting distance of work.
I'd be there in a heartbeat with the Ercoupe and begin building an RV.

The closest airport is John Wayne (SNA).  I moved out of SNA about 3 years
ago when the ties downs went up to $140 per month, and also due to the
effects of ocean air a few miles away (bad thing).   At SNA there was a 10
to 20 year wait for hangars that started at $600 per month.  Now I'm out at
Chino not far from the Planes of Fame Air Museum - it's a good airplane
friendly 'neighborhood'!   :-).
