Erco, in response, made the longer spinner "standard" (the only one available); and explained it could be field modified for use on earlier taper shaft engines by trimming. No, when the only spinner in production is fabricated long enough to properly fair a flange shaft installation, it will be so long as to hit the nose cowl on a taper shaft installation. This spinner is rigid aluminum, and fixed in size. It still must be trimmed as described to properly fit with taper shaft engines, and more than a few mechanics can't seem to get the nose cowl to line up with a spinner (and rely on a skullcap spinner to cover their incompetence).
