Hi Alan,
I tried to reply to you directly without success, so I'll post via the list. (see below)
A friend's coupe stored at my place has rivets removed from all the tanks for refurbishment. It appears to me that a lot of oversized rivets would have to be used in reassembly (if possible at all). No one has touched them for years (although hope springs eternal). If you'd like, I could contact him about loaning what you need. It could be that your new tanks could be had for about what it would cost my friend to have John Wright redo his.
It would also be easy to make paper, cardboard or even aluminum patterns I would think. If an owner can have Alon exhausts made under the FARs, I see no difference in the same rationale being applicable to tanks; although a FAA representative might want to be in an inspection and testing per Erco instructions by an IA before installation.
Regards,
WRB

I have a source in Argentina that makes fuel tanks./smaller>/fontfamily>
They have made all kinds of fuel tanks, even wing tanks and the "Dolly Parton" 500 Gal wing tanks used on Bonanzas for transatlantic flights. (Pictures available.) they make fuel tank trucks and replacement fuel tanks for military aircraft. They can make them in aluminum, Alclad or 316 SS./smaller>/fontfamily>
/smaller>/fontfamily>
Does anyone have a 9 gallon old wing tank that can be taken down to them to copy?/smaller>/fontfamily>
The costs of manufacturing in Argentina are about 1/3 of the USA./smaller>/fontfamily>
tanks are all welded aluminum and include drain, cap, fuel sender and fittings for drain and outlet / breather./smaller>/fontfamily>
/smaller>/fontfamily>
A good start would be a good set of pictures of a tank taken apart to send for an estimate./smaller>/fontfamily>
/smaller>/fontfamily>
Any interest in a source for new tanks?/smaller>/fontfamily>
Would they be legal?/smaller>/fontfamily>
