It can't be a mag problem. When you turn the mag switch off you are actually completing the circuit to ground to ground out the mag. If your engine keeps running your ground must be disconnected. Use a multimeter, put it on ohms (resistance) and see if your mag switch actually does complete the circuit to ground when you turn it off.

A few weeks ago 904 developed a problem of not shutting off when the magneto switch was turned off. It only has the problem when the engine is hot. When it is cold the engine dies as soon as I turn it off, but if I fly it for an half hour I must turn the fuel off and wait for the carb to run out of fuel. I think this problem is only affecting one mag, but not sure which one.

It still has its original magnetos. Any ideas? I have changed the switch.
