Hey Eliacim: You may want to talk to your mechanic prior to doing this, but
it should not be a big deal.
I would suggest calling the FSDO and making an
appointment to talk to the PMI for your mechanic. You may be able to talk
to him/her about what you are wanting to do on the telephone. If so, you may get
a good idea as to how they would like you to proceed. You may even be able to
obtain some wording they would like to see.
Take a 337, all filled out, with you and expect to
get it signed when you are there. Once all that is accomplished, you only have
to get the unit installed and go flying.
