In order for it to save your butt and your face, wouldn't you need to sit on one and keep another one in front of your face? I can't quite picture how just one could save both your butt and your face....

Actually one of those square boat cushion type floatation devices would probably do a good job of keeping one's face out of the instrument panel. Not a bad idea. It would give you something to sit on at the fly-ins too....
