Darick,

I've seen one 'coupe center tank indicating wire with small
notches filed on it. I didn't talk to the owner about it but I'm guessing
each notch was for a gallon. When my wing tanks were dry and my center tank
indicator was on its way down, I made sure my filling station was over the
nose, not over the horizon. That was my rule of thumb. I shudder to think
anyone would flight plan and fly to the "last drop". I hope that is not
your intention. Keep records and know your fuel consumption. With the
header tank you have on average less than an hour of flight time.

Everyone,
My header tank just has the indicator wire coming out the top of the
fuel cap and there are no markings on it. I'd like a more exact way of
determining fuel quantity. Two options, mark the wire with paint (?
potential to flake off) or install the glass tube type if possible for this
model - 415C s/n 1462. Any suggestions which is the better way to go, or
any other options?
Thanks, you are collectively the encyclopedia of Ercoupe knowledge!
