Yes Alan, I have the same
squeak!..and it doesn't give your guests any
confidence either. The teflon bushing must be a retrofit
since teflon wasn't around in 1946. Is it available through Skyport
or Univair?

How many of you have found that the tubes on the yokes are losing their
chrome plating and make a disgusting squeaky noise when they go in and out
through the dash?
Well the squeaky noise is because of a Teflon bushing on the back of the
panel but the peeling chrome is unsightly.
I was thinking of replacing the yoke tubes with lengths of 316 SS stainless
steel tubes that I can get locally in about 20" lengths.
Diameter, weight and wall thickness would be the same and strength
would be higher than steel, and it would not look bad either.
I do not expect any problems with approvals.
I may get a tube and have some pieces left over.
Anybody want to share the cost of the tube?
