If you are thinking about flying out West sometime, you must have your mixture control hooked up and know how to use it.

 

For my money, flying in the Central States or Midwest, it’s smart to have it working because some days, down low, it’s sickeningly bumpy but up high it’s wonderfully smooth and cool.

 

I advocate having a digital EGT gauge and I think it’s nice to have one that’s got a probe for each cylinder.  But, several members here have given procedures and info that make me think it may not be necessary.  I just couldn’t hear the running-rough point very well so I really liked having an EGT.
