It looks like there were two planes down due to engine failure
upon reduction of power.
I know the chap who went into the water here in Washington
State. I'll call him in a couple of days to see how he is doing. If he feels up
to it I'll ask him about the ditching and how the Coupe reacted upon touch down.
I'm especially interested in how the Coupe wound up inverted. Did it flip upon
landing, or during the sinking? I imagine his phone is ringing off the hook and
I don't want to bother him till things have quieted down. The plane is still in
the water and he will be responsible for removal. I would assume liability
insurance would cover this.
He has owned his Coupe for quite a while and is an experienced
pilot.
