Who holds the STC for putting an O-200 in a 415-C?
One does not exist. (Read on)
Does installing an O-200 in a 415-C take that plane out of the Sport
Plane classification.
Not in and of itself. Skyport holds the STC to install an O200 in a
model D. Many C's have been converted to D's and had O200's
installed. D's are not light sport eligible regardless of what
engine may be installed.
O200's have been installed in other Ercoupe models, C's included,
using the STC as the basis for a field approval.
Similar performance gains can be had by modifying your C85 using the
STC that allows installation of an O200 crankshaft. If you have a
C75 you must first complete the changes necessary to call it a C85.
