I find the comments on carb icing interesting and informative. It points out things that I didn't know. Also, it is instructive as to difference in training by CFIs. When I was learning to fly, I was informed to always pull on full carb heat anytime one is out of the green line, which is about 2000 rpm. I learned on a Cessna 172 with a Lycoming engine. I belong to the Tyndall AFB aeroclub (Panama City, FL) and that is still their Standard operating procedure. I still fly the same plane that I soloed in and using this technique have never had carb icing. I can see that things are different in a Coupe. Guess we just need to be informed, alert, and ready. Thanks for everyone's input. Keep up the interchange of experiences and info. It will hopefully prevent personnel injury and destroyed Coupes.
