I never fly my M-10 with the canopy open. Some years ago a friend owned an M-10 and had the canopy come loose and lay over on the left wing. It was just being held by the left roller bolt. The airplane was extremely difficult to control. He made it back to the runway OK since it was just after takeoff. Those canopies are held in the track by relatively small bolts- I don't trust them to hold with the air loads they incur even below the 100 mph limit.
