Hi Larry and All. Since I've owned my coupe i've never shut off the fuel. My carb doesn't leak.If your carb is set right and it doesn't leak there ya go .I was told once that the valve can be polished . Apparently its brass and if it  has gotten scored  it may leak some what the answer is ti lap it with valve lapping compound .What say you group this sound right Lynn or Jan   good luck Dennis 99564

All,

The smell of fuel in my cockpit was a leak from the shutoff valve
between the cowl tank and the carb. The valve dripped once about
every 20 seconds or so when closed, but did not leak at all when
opened. So my temporary fix is to leave the valve open all the time,
and shut off the engine with the mag switch.

Now for my questions - can the valve be rebuilt? Is there a source
for a new valve? Is there an acceptable replacement if not? If anyone
has replaced the valve with another kind, and has a field approval,
could I get a copy?

Thanks!

Larry
