When we did the job we used a hydraulic press (the easy part) and two 90 degree awls - look like ice picks but with 90 degree bend in the end.  Kind of like heavy duty dental picks.  First one took three of us working the problem - finally snapped in place after 30 minutes or so.  Language helped.  Second one took about 5 minutes - seems to be something you can learn.

Patience - it can be done.  By the way there is an up side and downside to the snap ring - it should snap in such a way that the pressure is against a cone shape upwards.  It makes me nervous that that is all that holds the assembly together - but so far it works fine.

Roger ,

I can't remember what tools we used.  Screw drivers probably.  Needle nose pliers, possibly.

Curse words seem to help a lot.

Right – only the two side openings were used by us.
