Ladies and gentlemen,

Recently I’ve seen a few (but slowly increasing number of) messages that are double posted.

Coupe related or aviation related, mechanical or technique or regulatory, etc., certainly do belong on the TECH forum.  But, we try to encourage people to post messages to only one forum.

Over 99%-plus of our members are members of TECH and FLYIN.  We repeatedly advocate that everyone be a member of tech.  The only few people who aren’t members of FLYIN are the ones who do NOT want to receive off-topic materials.  So double-posting just means that we all get two copies of the same message.

Naturally, off-topic messages or things that don’t relate to the technical subjects, i.e. stuff we might talk about at fly-ins, should not be double posted because they don’t belong on TECH at all.

Once a tech thread has gotten started on FLYIN, I would not recommend trying to move it to TECH.  I think that’d make it difficult for people to follow the thread properly.  It’s OK, by our rules, to discuss tech stuff on FLYIN – it’s just that we miss input from a few of our best people.

No criticism of anyone intended.  Most of us, including me, have slipped on this sometime.  But it seems to be useful to remind ourselves occasionally that double posting isn’t needed.

Thanks,

Ed Burkhead
