My friends,

A number of you have e-mailed me to say that the subject drawings did not make it through the web to you.

However, I had e-mailed myself a copy and it was still attached.  HOWEVER, it was very slow to load and, even at that, was not visible until I nudged it a bit.

After giving it awhile to load, I clicked on the empty space and it suddenly appeared.  Dono why.

The gov’t graphics from the patent office are a bit screwy.  They seem very memory intensive.  That is why I could only send one drawing.  Two or more exceeded the transmission limits, even tho they are only b&w.

BUT, there is also another way.  Go to the USPTO.gov and hit the “search” button under “patents.”  Then, pull up patent# 2,110,516.  It has a nice bunch of drawings.

Cut and paste all you want.

If you have trouble printing, use a Netscape browser (it is free on the web) download “alternaTIFF” graphics reader (also free on the web) and follow the instructions above.

I have not studied the patent claims, but I believe we can see in the drawings that he introduced ant-spin/progressive stall features, tricycle gear, adverse yaw elimination (using twin vertical stabilizers though it has only a single engine), and he eliminated rudder pedals.

Pretty cool, huh?

Subject: [COUPERS-TECH] Classic Ercoupe patent drawings FOR FREE

My friends,

Attached please find one of Fred Weick’s patent drawings, suitable for framing.  There are others in the patent, but this one is the most comprehensive.  It looks a bit strange, but it is the Ercoupe technology, round one.

Print it out on whatever media you care to use.

There are no legal issues or copyrights to worry about, etc.  It is all public domain stuff.  It’s just a bit hard to find.

With my compliments,

Dave Winters
