Greg;
First, I'm sure an A&P can okay the tank's repairs and more than likely an IA can inspect the repairs and sign them off. Either you have a bad repair or a bad person taking your money each year.

Second, I've got a terneplate tank hanging around, but forgot what side it's for. It'll be next week before I can give you an answer. Can the terneplate tank be replaced with an aluminum one?

Al

Subject: [COUPERS-TECH] Looking for a wing tank.

----[Please read http://ercoupers.com/disclaimer.htm before following any advice in this forum.]----

At a recent annual inspection, the left wing fuel tank had one of its baffle/ribs laying on the bottom of the tank. After taking the tank off and getting it repaired at a local metal shop and reinstalling it, the inspector wouldn't put anything in the logs about it since it wasn't an 'approved' repair. The repaired tank may last another 60 years, but, I'm looking for a replacement fuel tank that I can install and then put something in the logs.

I recognize some of the names on here as some of the people I have contacted over the past few weeks about getting my fuel tank repaired or replaced. The replacement tank I am looking for is the terneplate style 9 gallon for the left wing. I understand that there was a change to the landing gear around S/N 813 and also the fuel tanks were changed at the same time. I need a tank that will fit an under S/N 813 415-C. If you know where I can find a good replacement tank, please let me know.

Thank you,
-Greg W. Burkhart
