Subject: Spar Inspection

A recent FYI for the Club,

This week we completed the Spar NDT test as required by SB 32. No anomalies were found in any rivets on serial # 4019-N3394H. We removed the wings-2 hours- and the interior and the tanks-3 hours- before the technician arrived. The test took about 3 hours including the time for the contortions in the cockpit. All rivets-3 sizes-top and bottom- must be tested and the transducer placed on the bucked tail side.

We are on the VNY airport and the test was performed by L.A. X-Ray Company for under $500.

BTW Removing the wings and tanks is extra work but allows a through inspection and repair in an area not easily seen normally. It is also a good time to inspect the MLG, Doughnuts and the oleo as the top bolt on the oleo can be removed easily.

Regards,
